HEALTH CARE VISITS CITIZENS

Hundreds of citizens of Palilula had possibility last weekend, within project “Health Bazaar”, to check its health or get advice. This project of promotion of health and health life styles, which was achieved out of clinics, on the opened area in the yard of Palilula Municipality, in organization of Health Center in Nis and patronage of City Municipality of Palilula, was intended to all citizens of the City, especially working age population of Palilula. On this fist this year Health Bazaar, interested citizens were able to measure blood pressure, blood sugar level, know the percentage of body fat mass, degree of renal function, to control moles (by dermoscopy); determining the bone density; to educate for self examination of the breast and health life styles. About health life styles, citizens were able to know the details about harmfulness of tobacco and tobacco smoke; importance of proper nutrition and physical activity; prevention of cardiovascular and malignant disease; estimation of the risk for diabetes; education about type of opiates, consequences of taking and encourage healthy lifestyles. To the interested citizens was divided and educational material with professional advices by doctor.

Leading causes of illness and death in Republic of Serbia are chronic non communicable diseases (heart and blood vessels diseases, diabetes, malignant diseases – breast cancer, cervical and colon), to which emergence and development contributes risk factors largely related to inadequate health behavior as and for inheritance factors. "The risk of occurrence of these diseases can be reduced or eliminated by applying certain promotional and preventive interventions - highlighted the Prim. Dr Nevena Simovic, a specialist in general medicine, coordinator of the Center for the Prevention of the Health Center in Nis. We plan to " Health bazaars " continue its mission during the summer at various locations in the city. Milan Djurdjevic, president of the Assembly and Slavoljub Savic, Head of Municipal Administration Associate of Palilula, indicated the possibility of further cooperation of Municipality with Health Center, in achieving health promotion and healthy lifestyles for the population in the rural area of ​​the municipality of Palilula.
